How To Apply Repeating Wall Stickers

How To Apply Repeating Wall Stickers

Repeating wall stickers or pattern wall stickers are a great way to bring a new lease of life to a room. They’re inexpensive and they can have a high impact - they’re also easy to remove and you can get your child involved in decorating their own room which is a huge bonus.

To get your repeating pattern on your walls all perfect and beautiful takes a little planning though and that’s what I’d like to show you today.

What You Will Need To Apply Your Wall Stickers

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler/Tape Measure
  • Spirit Level
  • Wall stickers

Grid Style Repeating Wall Stickers

If you want your stickers in a grid pattern like the example image above, then this is the method for you.

How To Do It

  1. Work out how far your wall stickers need to be apart. This will depend on how many you have already bought or are planning on buying. We’d recommend at least the length of a ruler apart (30cm) but the choice is totally yours.
  2. Working from the bottom corner of your wall, measure up from the side and the bottom the distance you’d like your stickers to be apart
  3. Draw a pencil mark (a dot is the ideal)
  4. Measure upwards the same distance again. Use your spirit level to ensure that your are keeping things level and make another mark.
  5. Continue this process both up and across until you have filled your wall with pencil marks
  6. Stand back and take a look at your marks and make sure you’re happy
  7. Carefully peel your stickers off the backing sheet and apply directly over the dots - try and keep the centre of each sticker over the dot.
  8. Stand back and admire your work, you’re an amazing parent!

Offset Grid Style Repeating Wall Stickers

If you’re wanting your repeating wall stickers to be in the offset grid style shown above, follow the steps below.

How To Do It

  1. Follow steps 1-5 as listed in the Grid Style instructions above
  2. Starting on the bottom row working across, erase every other pencil mark that you’ve made.
  3. Moving up to the next row up, erase every other pencil mark but make sure that you’re alternating where the dots appear
  4. Repeat this process until you’ve done this on every row
  5. Stand back and take a look at your marks and make sure you’re happy
  6. Carefully peel your stickers off the backing sheet and apply directly over the dots - try and keep the centre of each sticker over the dot.
  7. Stand back and admire your work, you’re an amazing parent!

General Tips

There are a few general tips that I would recommend when applying your repeating wall stickers…

  • Take your time - there's no need to rush this, do it well and it will look stunning
  • Use your pencil lightly - make it easy to erase those marks that you put down
  • Get a second opinion - it's always good to have another pair of eyes helping you out
